Care providers are all well regulated. All care services are inspected by a representative from the Care Quality Commission (CQC). After each inspection they write a report on their findings which are publicly available. If you are looking at care providers, you might like to be able to take the findings from the report into consideration.
Thorncliffe was inspected in July 2009 and has achieved the Excellent rating. Oldfield House and Oldfield Manor are currently rated as good, but we are hoping to achieve excellent in both homes at the next inspections.
You can find them at www.cqc.org.uk or please click on any of the links below to be directed to the latest inspection report from CQC
Other inspecting bodies include the Blackburn with Darwen Quality Assuance Scheme, a locally based scheme to assess the quality of locally provided care. The inspectors spend a long time evaluating the surroundings, the care provided and the whole experience of the home itself. They talk privately with residents and staff to gain a full perspective from all those involved with the home.
